The song is "Celery Stalks At Midnight" by the Will Bradley Orchestra.

This version was recorded on January 17, 1940 by the Will Bradley Orchestra with drummer Ray McKinley exclaiming that "Celery stalks along the highway".

McKinley was also the co-leader of the band. The tune was written and arranged by George Harris. Rumor has it that it was originally written by Raymond Scott and merely modified a bit by Harris. In the Bradley-McKinley band was Peanuts Hucko on clarinet and tenor.

Thu, 12 Jun 2008 11:18:21 -0700 http://www.beerday.com/archives/92-guid.html Beer or Marriage? http://www.beerday.com/archives/91-Beer-or-Marriage.html Stupid http://www.beerday.com/archives/91-Beer-or-Marriage.html#comments http://www.beerday.com/wfwcomment.php?cid=91 0 http://www.beerday.com/rss.php?version=2.0&type=comments&cid=91 nospam@example.com (Funny Beer Commercials) The guy should've just stuck to beer in this marriage proposal at a basketball game...gone bad.

Thu, 21 Feb 2008 20:25:00 -0700 http://www.beerday.com/archives/91-guid.html Budweiser Wheel Superbowl Commercial http://www.beerday.com/archives/90-Budweiser-Wheel-Superbowl-Commercial.html Beer Commercials http://www.beerday.com/archives/90-Budweiser-Wheel-Superbowl-Commercial.html#comments http://www.beerday.com/wfwcomment.php?cid=90 0 http://www.beerday.com/rss.php?version=2.0&type=comments&cid=90 nospam@example.com (Funny Beer Commercials) Tue, 5 Feb 2008 20:20:00 -0700 http://www.beerday.com/archives/90-guid.html Superbowl Beer Commercials...coming soon. http://www.beerday.com/archives/89-Superbowl-Beer-Commercials...coming-soon..html Stupid http://www.beerday.com/archives/89-Superbowl-Beer-Commercials...coming-soon..html#comments http://www.beerday.com/wfwcomment.php?cid=89 0 http://www.beerday.com/rss.php?version=2.0&type=comments&cid=89 nospam@example.com (Funny Beer Commercials) Since I couldn't find full versions of the new Budweiser Superbowl commercials, you'll just have to watch Charlie the Unicorn!

Mon, 4 Feb 2008 20:22:00 -0700 http://www.beerday.com/archives/89-guid.html Keiths Red Amber Ale http://www.beerday.com/archives/86-Keiths-Red-Amber-Ale.html Beer of the Week http://www.beerday.com/archives/86-Keiths-Red-Amber-Ale.html#comments http://www.beerday.com/wfwcomment.php?cid=86 0 http://www.beerday.com/rss.php?version=2.0&type=comments&cid=86 nospam@example.com (Funny Beer Commercials) We're here at beer day headquarters celebrating the Christmas season and tonight one of the throngs of beerday fans have brought Keith's Red Amber Ale. Of course this means that I don't have to go out and buy my own "Beer of the Week".

I've had a couple of MGD's to cleanse my pallet and I'm just about to do the pour. The pour is dark, brownish red...I'm expecting a heavy beer, let's see what the first taste is like.

I'm enjoying the taste, but I'm having trouble distinguishing between the flavours...likely because my pallet has been damaged by the ice cold MGD. It's definitely not as heavy as I was expecting.

If you are going to a winter cottage then this is the beer to take. It is absolutely a comfort beer.

Enjoy the holidays and try a Keith's Red Amber Ale.

Fri, 14 Dec 2007 18:30:34 -0700 http://www.beerday.com/archives/86-guid.html Grey Goose Vodka - Drink of the Week http://www.beerday.com/archives/85-Grey-Goose-Vodka-Drink-of-the-Week.html Drink of the Week http://www.beerday.com/archives/85-Grey-Goose-Vodka-Drink-of-the-Week.html#comments http://www.beerday.com/wfwcomment.php?cid=85 0 http://www.beerday.com/rss.php?version=2.0&type=comments&cid=85 nospam@example.com (Funny Beer Commercials) What? Two weeks in a row without a beer of the week? Yes, that's correct. I only had repeater beer in the trusty beer fridge this week, so I decided to go with a glass of Grey Goose (actually two glasses). What can I say, I poured the Grey Goose Vodka in a glass with some ice.

I was expecting to yack immediately, but what I found was a nice pleasurable drink. Of course a very strong drink, but for the first time I can understand what a good martini might start out as. I drank it, then had another, then switched over to beer to finish off the night. Two thumbs up as Grey Goose Vodka passes the Beer day drink of the week test. The kids are off with Daddy for the weekend and the wife to be is off south of the border trying to get the most out of her Christmas Canadian dollars. That leaves me, alone at home, with the same old beer in the fridge.

So, instead of having another Molson Canadian, or Coors Light I think I'll make an attempt at the perfect Caesar.

Since the wife to be is away, my perfect Caesar starts with the perfect vodka - Grey Goose. Grey Goose is imported from France and I'm sure there are people out there cringing at the thought of me mixing Grey Goose with Clam Cocktail. Did I mention that I am doing this because I am too lazy to drive out to the beer store in Orangeville and buy myself some specialty beer?

Ok, mixing is out of the question at this point, so here it goes.

Ice (4 cubes)
Franks extra hot (a few splashes)
Clam Cocktail (not full)
More Franks extra hot
Grey Goose Vodka
More Clam Cocktail
more Franks extra hot
Salt
Pepper
Stir
Drink...ok, now you've all caught up with me. I must say, for an unplanned, unmeasured drink this is nicely pleasing. The Franks (extra hot) is giving it just enough heat and I can barely taste that fine Grey Goose vodka. Well, I'm off to finish my Caesar. If there isn't a post next week you'll know that the Fiance killed me for cracking open her bottle of Grey Goose and mixing it with Clamato!
